Overall income of five social security funds exceeds expenditure.
Lu Aihong, spokesperson of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, revealed that by the end of 2016, the number of people participating in basic pension, basic medical care, unemployment, work injury and maternity insurance had reached 890 million, 750 million, 180 million, 220 million and 180 million respectively. The employment situation is generally stable this year.

Regarding the problem of wage arrears for migrant workers, Lu Aihong said that last year, through daily labor security supervision, a total of 233,000 wage-related illegal cases were investigated and dealt with, down by 14.8% year-on-year, and a total of 3.722 million workers were paid wages and other benefits of 35.06 billion yuan. The number of workers involved decreased by 22.7% year-on-year, and the amount of wages involved also decreased by 16.7% year-on-year. .
"At the end of the year and the beginning of the year, it is an important task to control the problem of wage arrears." Lu Aihong pointed out that from mid-November last year to before the Spring Festival this year, special inspections were organized nationwide. At present, the inspection has achieved phased results. From November 15, 2016 to January 15 this year, all localities have recovered 9.204 billion yuan in unpaid wages for 766,500 migrant workers.
"We further unblocked the channels for reporting and complaining, intensified the supervision and enforcement of labor security, investigated all hidden dangers of unpaid wages, registered them one by one, and formulated rectification measures.
